The company was incorporated primarily to develop Spencer Plaza, the most exclusive and prestigious shopping-cum-office Mall in Chennai, at the famous Spencer's site.

The Site
The site is located at Mount Road, which is the main arterial road, of Chennai, the nerve centre of the city's commercial activities. The property originally belonged to M/s. Spencer & Co Ltd. Way back in 1895 Spencer & Co opened the first departmental Stores and had over 80 individual departments. After the fire accident in 1984, it was decided to demolish the old structure and put up another landmark building. The site admeasures approximately 10 acres.
